Beyond the Velvet Ropes: The Wendy Williams Show

Who: Wendy Diamond, Wendy Williams, Great Looking Guys and Their Dogs
What: How to Understand Men Through Their Dogs Segment on the Wendy Williams Show
Where: Midtown West
When: July 22, 2008
Why: To promote Wendy's Book
I helped to book Wendy Diamond on the Wendy Williams Show to do a segment on her book, How to Understand Men Through Their Dogs. I had to set up most of the segment which meant casting models/men and their canine friends. It was lovely looking at all the cute guys, but I literally booked my last model at the very last minute, but that's another story. So we arrive to the Wendy Williams Show bright and early Tuesday Morning. Wendy had to do a run through and go straight to hair and make-up. Which was really funny b/c the make-up artist was giving us all the scoop on celebs and I just thought it was hilarious! Wendy is really, sweet. I really didn't get a chance to chat with her much, b/c I was trying to book another model at the last minute. The segment went great and I am waiting on footage from it so I can post it! Wendy's show is doing very well and she is a really down to earth person, who has worked very hard for what she has! Her staff is nothing short of amazing and I can't wait to work with them again!

Beyond the Velvet Ropes: Movie Premiere: Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants

Who: Movie Lovers
What: The NY Premiere of The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2
Where: NYC
When: July 28, 2008
Why: To screen the movie and do the Red Carpet with Wendy Diamond
So I had the opportunity to go to my 1st NY Movie Premiere. It was quite the event, very chaotic, tons fans and celebs. I attended the event with Wendy Diamond as her publicist. I actually had to walk her down the red carpet which was really strange. I honestly don't know how celebs deal with all those flashes b/c it drove me nuts. There were a lot of actors from both Gossip Girl and Ugly Betty. There were also page six spies looking for gossip to add to their weekly columns. We finally made it into the movie and all the fans were going crazy for the Gossip Girl cast! The movie was actually good, much to my surprise. Once I left the movie, it was funny to see all the crazy fans running up to celebs begging for pics and autographs. Surprisingly one of the nicer "celebs" there was Dina Lohan. She was very sweet to all that approached her. It was a different experience and I'm sure that there will be more to come.

Where: Brasserie Ruhlmann (near Rockefeller Centre)
When: July 23rd
Why: To celebrate a great designer's birthday

On Tuesday night, my sis, friend and I headed over to Marc Bouwer's b-day party. Marc is a really nice guy. We talked for awhile and he told me about how much hard work it takes to reach your dream! I hear that! We pretty much mingled with some of the folks at the party. Most of them were apart of the NY Fashion community. Heatherette also came out to the party. It was pretty interesting and we left with cute parting gifts to keep us looking good! LOL!

Sorry no pics from the event.

Beyond the Velvet Ropes: Mens Fashion Week - Buckler's Collection

Who: Fashion Enthusiasts, MTV's The Hills
What: Andrew Buckler's Fashion Show
Where: Pier 92 NYC
When: July 22
Why: Men's Fashion Week

I attended my very 1st fashion week show! I know it's not September, the traditional time for Fashion Week, but this year they decided to separate men's and women's fashion week.

I rushed over to Pier 92 to catch the show and it was amazing! Buckler is a British men's wear designer who is making a name for himself in the US. The clothes were amazing!!! I headed backstage to chat with my sis and watch MTV's The Hills film. Once they wrapped, I had a chance to chat with LC about the Paws for Style event (that was interesting). She really is a nice girl.

After the show, we headed to Buckler's showroom and watched the show with the designer himself. Buckler seemed really pleased with the show and his staff was happy with the final product! We then left the showroom and headed to the Brass Monkey in the Village to celebrate the success of the show. It was a fun night! Check out some of Buckler's clothes below. (Photos by Don Ashby)

Beyond The Velvet Ropes: Paws for Style

Who: Various celebrities , designers and socialites
What: Animal Fair's 9th Annual Paws for Style Event (Presented By Cesar Canine Cuisine)
Where: Area (Midtown NYC)
When: July 15
Why: To raise money for the Humane Society of New York (HSofNY)

I've been interning as a PR manager for the Paws for Style event. Basically, I have to get the buzz out about the event and get tons of media outlets to not only attend the event but cover it as well.

The event started out well. I ran the Red Carpet w/out any drama until...Lauren Conrad of MTV's the Hills made her appearance. Lauren was actually really nice despite the rumors I had heard. She took to the red carpet, posed for pics and granted interviews. Everything seemed cool until I saw LC crying near the coat check. I heard her say that she was fine and ran to attend to my PR duties. Robert Verdi (really cool guy btw!) took to the runway and was the MC for the show. Robert announced all the celeb walkers but when he got to LC he said, "Lauren Conrad has ran for the Hills! She has decided not to walk in the show...these reality stars can be such temperamental Bitches! And with that he closed the show. I was shocked that she choose not to walk. The next morning there was a media frenzy! (check out: People.com, tvguide.com, perez hilton.com etc) It was all over the place and I had to do damage control.

Check out TMZ and watch E! news for the latest developments. This has truly been crazy for me! None the less it was a great event raising money for the Humane Society of New York, 50k and counting. You can bid on the clothes worn by the celebs on Ebay!
